Congratulations to our stellar team!

Corlette were awarded Gold and Silver in the Best Wayfinding & Signage Category, at the Transform Asia Pacific Awards last night. Warm thanks to our visionary clients and peer consultants. These Awards celebrate our ongoing collaborations with W Hotels, recognising both W Shanghai and W Suzhou.

Best Wayfinding and Signage
Awarded Gold for our work on W Shanghai, the night was fittingly hosted at the W.
Awarded Silver for W Suzhou.

With the completion of W Shanghai and W Suzhou, Corlette are thrilled to have collaborated on fifteen experiential branding programs for W Hotels. Our partnership now spans two decades, since the brand’s inception in 1998. W Hotels are known for Design that defies expectations in iconic locations and for brand expressions that require Extreme Wow. More than just a hotel experience, W is a luxury lifestyle destination where signage and wayfinding are expected to provide surprising, memorable moments that captivate their guests.

W Shanghai
Each W Hotel captures its own unique sense of place. W Shanghai exemplifies this strategy showcasing an electric combination of historic and contemporary influences known as Hai Pai, the art of combining the old and the new, East and West. Celebrating the hotel’s unique position between the Suzhou Creek and Huangpu River, the surrounding Art Deco locale and opulent Chinese mansions, the hotel design is inspired by an eclectic mix of colonial glamour and futuristic iconography. The hotel’s compelling combination of the old and new reflects the very spirit of the city of Shanghai. Corlette’s signage and wayfinding design needed to align with the brand vision and, crucially, to ignite the place-centric hotel concept for W Shanghai.

Owned by Sinar Mas Group, the W Shanghai hotel features a blend of bold design and decadent style which combines to create a captivating contrast of Shanghai’s past and its avant-garde present. “Over the past few years we have seen incredible growth worldwide across our brands, with the China market becoming increasingly important for Marriott International,” said Stephen Ho, Chief Executive Officer, Greater China, Marriott International. “The opening of the W Shanghai – The Bund underscores the ambitious expansion of Marriott International’s Luxury Brands in Greater China.”

W Suzhou
Suzhou, known as the Venice of China, is 2,500 years old and home to spectacular UNESCO classical gardens, canals and ancient water towns. W Suzhou is a uniquely compelling and magical destination to bring to life within the W portfolio. Corlette’s evocative signage and wayfinding program seamlessly integrates into the hotel narrative.

At W Suzhou, guests slip into a mystical setting of floating art pieces, W’s modern interpretation of the city’s architectural and verdant heritage through playful installations of glass, light and other fantastical elements. Kaleidoscopes of colourful details defy everyday gravity in exceptional guestrooms, while escapism entices with larger-than-life nature motifs. Extraordinary gastronomy and a vivacious cocktail culture complete this remarkable urban narrative infused with artfully surprising encounters.

Commissioned by Suzhou Industrial Park Jinji Lake Urban Development Co. Ltd, Corlette delivered signage and wayfinding for the W Suzhou hotel and serviced apartments.
