Corlette are thrilled to be commissioned for the identity and branding of Taipei’s revolutionary Tao Zhu Yin Yuan Tower. The mixed use project is designed by Paris-based Vincent Callebaut Architectures. Callebaut’s twisting DNA-inspired ‘Citytree’ towers combine passivhaus principles and renewable energy technology to produce more energy than they consume.

Tao Zhu Yin Yuan Tower is designed to have a carbon-neutral footprint. The building will house 23,000 trees and shrubs across the facade, roof and balconies, absorbing approximately 130 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Column-free internal spaces, based on the Vierendeel Truss, offer highly flexible interior design opportunities. Callebaut has partnered with Hui-Ting Shen from China-based Core Pacific Group to realise his vision of transformative and sustainable, vertical forest architecture.

Architect Vincent Callebaut told CNN, “Outlandish and futuristic as they may seem, the core of all my designs is an attempt to address the real threat that cities pose for humankind and our ecological balance.”

Tao Zhu Yin Yuan Tower is scheduled for completion in December 2017. For more information visit vincent.callebaut.org
